Biography

Dr. Faye Deters, a Kentucky native, joined Midway University in Fall 2021 as a professor and the Chair of the Teacher Education Department. Before coming to Midway, Dr. Deters held positions in administration at EKU, including Associate Dean in the College of Education and Applied Human Sciences as well as Chair of the Departments of Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership and Counselor Education. She has held faculty positions at four other institutions in two states and has taught a variety of courses in literacy, elementary education, middle grades education, and curriculum.

Prior to earning her doctorate from the University of Kentucky in Instruction and Administration with a specialty in Reading and Language Arts, she taught grades 2 through 5 and ungraded primary in a Title I school in eastern Kentucky. Dr. Deters' research has focused on literacy instruction, working with children in poverty, instructional technology, and professional learning communities.

Dr. Deters lives in Lexington with her husband and youngest son. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time with her family.
